How do I check what ChatGPT says about my business?

Ask AI the questions your customers ask, the way they ask them, more than once, and write down which businesses it names, what it says about you, and which pages it cites. One answer proves little: when BrightLocal asked the same local questions again, only 20% to 33% of the businesses named overlapped.

The full answer.

  1. Write the questions. Five to ten, in your customers’ words, with your service and your town: “Who fixes furnaces in [town] on a weekend?”
  2. Ask three tools. ChatGPT with search on, Google (AI Mode or an AI Overview on a normal search) and Perplexity. Use a logged-out browser window.
  3. Ask again on another day. Answers change from one ask to the next (R16, B).
  4. Write down three things. Whether you are named; every fact stated about you (hours, phone, address, services); the links it cites.
  5. Check each fact against your own site. Then open the cited pages: a wrong fact usually comes from one of them.

What to expect. Google Maps named a tracked business in 66% of searches in BrightLocal’s study; the AI surfaces did in 32% to 38% (R16, B). Not being named is common.

What Still Fox does.

The free snapshot runs a version of this check on ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude, and sends one page within two business days: whether AI can reach and read your site, what it says, and what to fix first.
